Two-phase Treatment

Two-phase orthodontic treatment is a specialized, multi-operational process that involves teeth straightening, jaw alignment, jaw widening, and facial changes. The technique offers comprehensive, quality results in both appearance and oral health.

During this phase, the aim is to develop the jaw size to accommodate all the permanent teeth and to position the upper and lower jaws properly in relation to one another.

Children in particular can benefit from early intervention, as first-phase treatment can direct the jaw into the right position during the rapid growth of childhood. In order to determine the appropriate treatment and appliances for the first stage, Dr Mulik will take thorough orthodontic information, including X-rays and impressions (molds).

During this stage, the remaining permanent teeth are allowed to erupt. In some cases, the teeth with erupt in the ideal position, and Phase Two will not be necessary. In other cases, further treatment is required. Towards the end of the resting period, Dr Mulik will consult with you on his clinical decision regarding the second phase.

The second phase begins when all permanent teeth have erupted. This phase usually includes braces for 12 to 18 months, followed by a retainer, to move the teeth into their final, optimal position for a beautiful healthy smile.
