Treatment for Adults

Orthodontics is not just for teenagers. It is estimated that one in five orthodontic patients are adults. Many of these patients did not receive appropriate treatment during childhood. Crooked teeth or a bad bite can cause gum and bone loss, tooth decay, abnormal wear of the tooth surface, headaches and TMJ (pain of the jaw joints).

Orthodontic treatment can have a positive impact on appearance, oral health and self esteem.

We offer a range of orthodontic treatments and solutions designed to meet the needs of adults.

Lingual braces

Lingual braces are metal braces bonded to the back of your teeth. They are an aesthetic and effective option, operating in a similar way to regular braces without affecting your appearance.

Orthodontic surgery

Orthodontic surgery is only performed on adults over the age of 18, once jaw growth is complete. In cases of moderate to severe jaw irregularity, surgery may be necessary. Repositioning the jaw also affects the position of the teeth, so orthodontic surgery is performed in conjunction with an appropriate treatment plan with braces.

After thorough examination of your teeth and jaw, we will present the options available to you, taking into account the nature and severity of your orthodontic problem. Please don’t hesitate to contact the clinic if you have queries or concerns about adult orthodontic treatments.

D-alignersTM

Constructed of clear polymer plastic, D-alignersTM are transparent and removable, customized to move your teeth in increments into the desired position. If braces are not right for you, D-alignersTM may provide the solution – invisible, aesthetic, hygienic, comfortable and effective. D-alignersTM can be used in conjunction with other necessary treatments that you may need, such as interproximal reduction (IPR), a highly-effective technique that creates extra space between the teeth for optimal tooth alignment. In some cases, IPR can be used in order to avoid tooth extraction.
